Members of The Mining Engineers Association of India (MEAI) Meet in Kolkata


As Indian Mining Industry is on the rise, role of mining engineers is becoming crucial in managing the health of the industry maintaining various parameters in running the mines. The Mining Engineers Association of India (MEAI), Kolkata Chapter, has initiated a move to consolidate the thoughts and ideas mining engineers who are working in this part of country. Working in that direction the organization held a meeting in Kolkata recently for the Kolkata Chapter.
Mr. M.N. Rai, Executive Director I/C, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) Raw Materials Division has been the nominated president. Mr. Rai urged upon the members to increase the participation of mining engineers and focus on the burning issues in the Mining Industry.
Engineers from different companies like SAIL, Hindustan Copper Limited, Jai Balaji Group, and others participated in the meeting. Dr. S.K. Sarangi, President of the prime body of Mining Engineers Association of India (MEAI) attended the programme. Former Directors of Indian School of Mines, former president of Indian Aluminium (INDAL) addressed in the meeting. Mr. P.S. Upadhayay, Senior Consultant, Golder Associates, New Delhi made presentation on the introduction of Paste Technology for slime disposal in iron ore mines, which is an important issue for iron ore mines.
