Job description

This is a coordination position who, will provide managerial oversight for projects supporting company’s Cost Per Performance contract at the customer’s mill located in Jacksonville, Florida through:
  • Project management 
  • Supply Chain Management 
  • Support the Technical Assistant to drive performance and continuous improvements through the PDCA Methodology; 
  • KPI's data collection, analysis, and follow up; 
  • Logistics and Demand Planning Coordination; 
  • SAR (Refractory Application System) operation
The Project Manager / Steel Manufacturing is a member of Magnesita's Sales and Marketing team and reports directly to the CPP Account Manager. This is a managerial position requiring a high level of energy, professional motivation, and computer literacy.  

ELIGIBILITY | Requirements

Technical background, preferably with melt shop and refractory ceramics knowledge and will be key to communication for delivering a program that ensures total customer satisfaction. High level of energy, professional motivation, and computer literacy with Excel, Power Point, and web based applications is absolutely essential. Heavy industrial environment requires commitment to adhere to all safety policies within the steel mill.
The incumbent should have minimum 3 years supervisory experience, particularly with project management, developing and documentation of action plans and results, follow up product trials in the steel melt shop, and supervise inventory activities in a daily basis.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The job responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Develop refractory formulations and products for use in Steel and Industrial manufacturing applications.
  • Provide support for plant manufacturing processes.
  • Respond to technical inquiries about products as requested by Commercial department.
  • Respond to customer complaints related to product performance.
  • Analyze samples from the field (competitor and returns) and report results.
  • Initiate new research techniques for characterization and improvement.
ELIGIBILITY Requirements FOR THIS JOB
  • Engineering or Science degree preferably Ceramic Engineering, Material Science.
  • Candidates are required to have an industrial experience in primary steelmaking and steelmaking refractories.
  • Experience with refractories is required, preferably with product and process development.
  • Computer literacy is a must.
  • Good written and oral communication skills are required to interact effectively with and provide training for steelmaking personnel, including metallurgists, managers, and operators etc.

  • This position of “Production Manager” in Magnesita Refractories is that of an interactive management at the floor level with the total Manufacturing Operations team of the unit. 
  • Ensure safe and high quality operations within the departments of responsibility. 
  • Management of hourly workforce, promoting team unity, development, accountability, and continuous improvement. 
  • Strive for continuous improvement of people, processes, quality, and expense management. 
  • With the support of Engineering and Maintenance staffs, promote and coordinate capital improvement projects. 
  • Coordination and support of production and maintenance planning. 
  • Regular interaction and coordination with managers and team members in other functions related to production efficiency, inventory management, procurement, quality assurance, sales, marketing, and customer service. 
  • Set and strive toward achievement of departmental and personal goals related to department expense, safety, and process efficiency KPI's.
ELIGIBILITY | Requirements
  • 4-year technical degree preferred. 
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience (including managerial experience) preferred. 
  • Knowledge of refractory manufacturing processes and teams to include Raw Material Crushing/Screening, Pressing, Monolithic refractories, and Precast refractory operations.
